Local Option - Real Property Tax Exemption for Green Buildings

In July 2012 New York enacted legislation allowing municipal corporations to exempt green buildings from real property taxes. It is important to note that this law allows but does not require local governments to extend favorable property tax treatment to green buildings. In order for the exemption to apply, the taxing jurisdiction must first adopt this exemption.

Jones-Onslow EMC - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation offers rebates to residential members who install EnergyStar appliances, HVAC equipment and heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters. Eligible EnergyStar appliances include:

  • Electric clothes washers and dryers
  • Refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers
  • Ceiling fans
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Room air-conditioners
  • Programmable thermostats

Solar Energy System and Cogeneration System Personal Property Tax Credit

The District of Columbia Council created a personal property tax exemption for solar energy systems and cogeneration systems within the District by enacting B19-0749 in December of 2012. Systems using exclusively solar energy as defined in D.C. Code § 34-1431(14) are exempt from personal property tax; provided, that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Chief Financial Officer shall transfer $120,000 from the certified revenues deposited in the Renewable Energy Development Fund established by § 34-1436 to the unrestricted fund balance of the General Fund of the District of Columbia and shall recognize the $120,000 as local funds revenue in fiscal year

Satilla REMC - HomePlus Loan Program

Satilla Rural Electric Member Corporation offers the HomePlus Loan Program to members to install energy-efficient improvements in their homes. Members can receive financing for improvements in heating and cooling, insulation, windows and doors, and weatherization items. There are three tiers of loans which vary depending on the amount of the loan.

Florida Keys Electric Cooperative - Residential Rebate Program

Florida Keys Electric Cooperative offers residential members rebates for installing energy efficient measures. To qualify for rebates, members must first call FKEC and make an appointment for a free home energy audit. An FKEC trained auditor will assess the home and make recommendations for energy savings. From those recommendations members can qualify for rebates for installations such as:

  • Central Air Conditioners
  • Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioners
  • Room Air Conditioners
  • Solar Water Heat
  • Insulation
  • Window Film or Solar Screen
  • Caulk/Weather-Stripping
  • Cool/Reflective Roof Coating

    Columbia Gas of Kentucky - Home Savings Rebate Program

    Columbia Gas of Kentucky offers rebates to residential customers for the purchase and installation of energy efficient appliances and equipment. These programs include:

    • A Low-Income Furnace Replacement Program
    • A Home Energy Checkup Program
    • A Natural Gas Appliance Rebate Program

    Water heaters, furnaces and space heating equipment are available for cash rebates. Additionally, free home energy audits are available to Columbia Gas customers.     Jackson EMC - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

    Jackson EMC offers rebates for certain energy-efficient upgrades in homes. If you get a Home Energy Evaluation and then make improvements recommended by that evaluation, you may qualify for a rebate. They also have rebates for installing electric (ENERGY STAR-certified) heat pumps, smart thermostats, and electric vehicle chargers. Work typically must be done by a contractor in their approved network.

    North Shore Gas - Residential Rebate Program

    The North Shore Gas Natural Gas Savings Program offers incentives to encourage customers to make energy-efficient improvements to their homes and apartment buildings. Rebates are available on energy efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters, controls and insulation. To qualify, gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters must be installed by professional contractors. Property owners of multifamily units may also participate in this program.     SourceGas - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

    SourceGas offers the Excess is Out Program for residential customers in Colorado. The Excess is Out Program offers various rebates for the installation of energy efficient equipment. The Program offers incentives for energy efficient furnaces, boilers, hot water heaters, equipment tune-ups, equipment insulation, and home insulation. All equipment must meet certain energy efficiency standards listed on the program website.

    Peoples Gas - Residential Rebate Program

    Peoples Gas offers the Home Energy Rebate Program offers rebates for owners of single-family homes, two-flats, and individually metered condos, apartments, and townhomes. Rebates included for HVAC, water heater, and weatherization projects.

    New equipment must be installed and old equipment removed. Only new products that meet the energy-efficiency specifications listed on the residential application qualify. Rebates may not exceed the project cost.
