AEP (SWEPCO) - Residential Energy Efficiency Programs

The South Western Electric Power CO. (SWEPCO) Residential Standard Offer Program provides incentives to Project Sponsor contractors for installing energy efficiency measures at the homes of SWEPCO residential customers. The primary objective of this program is to achieve cost-effective energy usage reduction in peak summer demand. SWEPCO Texas will enter into contracts for peak demand and energy savings with "Project Sponsors" who are typically energy efficiency service firms such as air conditioning contractors, insulation installers, lighting contractors or national energy service companies.

Approved contractors will perform tests on the customer's home and install relevant energy-saving measures including:

  • Attic insulation
  • Duct

Georgia Environmental Finance Authority - Residential Energy Efficiency Loan Program

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) encourages Georgians to utilize zero-interest financing options to help make their homes more energy efficient and save on utility bills. Financing is available through Oglethorpe Power Corporation, Electric Cities of Georgia, the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia and Estes Heating and Air. City of Palo Alto Utilities - Palo Alto CLEAN (Clean Local Energy Accessible Now)

City Palo Alto Utility's Clean Local Energy Accessible Now (CLEAN) program provides fixed payments for electricity produced by approved photovoltaic systems over a fixed period of time. This type of program is commonly referred to as a feed-in tariff. Originally, the program allowed participants to choose between 10-year, 15-year and 20-year contracts. As of June 2015, the only option is a 20-year contract for a price of $0.165 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

City of San Marcos - Energy Efficient Home Rebate Program

The City of San Marcos offers an Energy Efficient Home Rebate Program for the installation of central HVAC equipment, duct sealing or replacement measures, attic and wall insulation, EnergyStar windows and doors, window film and solar screens, and EnergyStar window AC units.

City of San Marcos - Distributed Generation Rebate Program

The City of San Marcos offers a Distributed Generation Rebate Program for the installation of grid-tied renewable energy systems. The Distributed Generation Rebate Program is offered to San Marcos Texas Utility customers. In order to qualify for the rebate, customers must be pre-approved by the utility. Single family homes must meet certain energy efficiency criteria determined by the utility. All systems must be professionally designed and installed. Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Electrical Generating Equipment

Indiana does not have a specific sales and use tax exemption for equipment used in the production of renewable electricity. Therefore, such equipment is presumed to be subject to sales and use tax. However, in Indiana, transactions involving manufacturing machinery, tools, and equipment are exempt from the state gross retail tax if the property is directly used for the direct production of tangible personal property (which includes electricity) for sale. Therefore, equipment, machinery, and tools used in the production of renewable electricity for sale could possibly be eligible for this exemption. Commercial & Industrial Renewable Energy Grants

The New Hampshire Department of Energy (DOE) offers grant funding for renewable energy projects installed at commercial, industrial, public, non-profit, municipal or school facilities, or multi-family residences with at least three units.

Eligible forms of energy include electricity or useful thermal energy generated from wind, ocean thermal, wave, current, tidal, hydrogen derived from biomass fuels or methane gas, methane gas, biomass, and hydroelectric

GreenSun Hawaii

The GreenSun Hawaii program works with various lenders throughout Hawaii to offer financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency upgrades. Through the program, homeowners may be eligible to finance Energy Star refrigerators, Energy Star air conditioners, solar water heating systems or heat pumps, and solar photovoltaic systems.  Non-residential property owners may be eligible to finance lighting retrofits or upgrades, air conditioning, solar water heating systems, solar photovoltaic systems, and windows. Residential Energy Efficiency Rebates (Offered by 5 Utilities)

Bright Energy Solutions offers energy efficiency cash incentive programs to residential customers of municipal utilities that are members of Missouri River Energy Services. In North Dakota, this includes:

  • Cavalier Municipal Utilities
  • Hillsboro Municipal Utilities
  • Lakota Municipal Light Plant
  • Northwood Municipal Utilities
  • Valley City Public Works

For residential customers, rebates are available for ENERGY STAR clothes washers, dehumidifiers, room air conditioners, and heating and cooling systems. Customers who choose a certified Quality Install contractor to install their HVAC system can receive an additional $100 rebate. Rebate values can also be found here.

City of Dubuque - Solar Thermal Licensing Requirement

The City of Dubuque requires a Solar Thermal License in order for a person to install a solar thermal project on a home or business. The requirement does not apply to solar photovoltaics. The licensing requirement can be met one of two ways:

  • An installer may be Solar Thermal Certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) or
  • An installer may complete the Northeast Iowa Community College Solar Thermal Training

Installers are also required to obtain a permit before altering or installing a system. Application details are available on the program website.
