Montana-Dakota Utilities (Gas) - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Montana-Dakota Utilities offers rebates to residential natural gas customers who upgrade their heating equipment. Customers can receive $300 for replacing an existing furnace with a high-efficiency model rated at 95% AFUE or higher. There are also thermostat rebates: $15 for a Tier 1 programmable thermostat (with at least four daily time settings and a 5-1-1 or 5-2 schedule, installed with a qualifying furnace), and $60 for a Tier 2 Wi-Fi thermostat that can be controlled remotely. Interconnection Standards

The Maine Public Utility Commission (PUC) adopted interconnection procedures in January 2010; the rules were last updated in 2020. These rules apply to all transmission and distribution utilities operating in the state and apply to all distribution generation (not just renewables). Maine's interconnection procedures, based in part on the Interstate Renewable Energy Council's. 2006 Model Interconnection Procedures,* identify four different tiers with corresponding technical screens. These are:

  • Level 1: Small certified generating, inverter-based facilities 25 kilowatts (kW) or less;
  • Level 2: Certified facilities 2 megawatts (MW) or less;
  • Level 3: Non-exporting, certified facilities 10 MW or less;
  • Level 4: Any generating

Montana-Dakota Utilities - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) offers several residential rebates for investing in high-efficient equipment for natural gas and electric customers. Natural gas customers are eligible for rebates on natural gas furnaces, programmable thermostats, and LED light bulbs if the equipment meets program efficiency standards.

Rebate payments are issued in the form of a check. See program web site listed above to view application form or to see more program information. Only residential MDU customers living in Montana are eligible for rebates.

Orange and Rockland Utilities (Gas) - Residential Efficiency Program

Orange and Rockland Utilities provides rebates for residential customers purchasing energy efficient natural gas equipment. Rebates exist for furnaces, water boilers and controls, steam boilers, water heaters, thermostats, and air sealing. Equipment minimum requirements must be met in order to qualify for rebates.  For boilers and furnaces, equipment with higher efficiency levels will be awarded higher rebates.  Visit the program website or contact the utility directly for more information.

Carteret County - Wind Energy System Ordinance

Carteret County passed an ordinance to specify the permitting process and establish siting requirements for wind energy systems. There are different rules and a different permitting process depending on the size and location of a system. Small systems up to 25 kilowatts (kW) are considered to be an accessory use and do not require the approval of a Wind Energy Permit Application. Alabama Gas Corporation - Residential Natural Gas Rebate Program

Alabama Gas Corporation (Alagasco) offers a rebate to its residential customers who replace older gas water heaters with new, efficient gas water heaters. Rebates are offered for customers who switch from electric to natural gas furnaces, AC and water heaters. All equipment requirements must be met in order to receive rebates. Columbia Gas of Ohio - Residential Rebate Programs

Columbia Gas of Ohio (CGO) offers energy efficiency rebates for furnaces, boilers, and water heaters that enroll in the Home Performance Solutions Program.

The Home Performance Solutions Program requires that a representative of Conservation Services Group inspect and test the home before informing the residents of recommended measures and possible incentives. The resident may contact a qualifying contractor to install the equipment; approved contractors are listed on the program web site.

For Income Eligible Customers, CGO also offers home weatherization measures, safety checks of natural gas appliances, energy inspections, natural gas furnace repair or replacement, and natural gas water heater
