River Falls Municipal Utilities - Renewable Energy Finance Program

River Falls Municipal Utilities (RFMU) offers loans of $2,500 - $50,000 to its residential customers for the installation of photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal, geothermal, wind electric systems. The program will also support the installation of energy efficiency measures in connection with a qualifying renewable energy project, provided that the renewable energy portion of the project comprises at least 50% of project costs. Systems that generate renewable electricity must be connected to the RFMU distribution grid. Loan terms vary by project, but may range from 5 -20 years at a current interest rate of 4%. Solar Energy Option Requirement for Residential Developments

In March 2009 New Jersey enacted legislation (A.B. 1558) designed to support the integration of solar energy systems into new residential developments. The law requires that developers of residential developments with 25 or more dwelling units must "offer to install, or to provide for installation of, a solar energy system" when techinically feasible.

U.S. Virgin Islands - Solar Water Heating Requirement for New Construction

In July 2009 the U.S. Virgin Islands enacted legislation creating Act 7075. This legislation requires that all new developments and substantial building modifications install energy efficient solar water heaters to provide at least 70% of the building's water heating needs. This is for all building types: residential, commercial and governmental.

The Department of Planning and Natural Resources may provide a waiver if a significant cost burden is shown. The Department will verify compliance with this requirement at the time development, construction and/or building permits are reviewed.

Southwest Gas Corporation - Solar Water Heating Program

Southwest Gas is offering rebates to Nevada customers for solar water heating systems installed in private residential, small business, public and other properties. Rebates are based on the amount of therms expected to be generated by the system, and the rebate amounts decline based on each "step" of the incentive program reached.

Citizens Electric Corporation - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Citizens Electric Corporation offers rebates and price reductions to its residential customers for purchasing and installing energy efficient equipment. Eligible equipment and measures include geothermal heat pumps, air-source heat pumps, dual fuel heat pumps, and water heaters and other equipment. New and existing homes are eligible for this offering. All equipment must meet CEC minimum efficiency requirements in order to receive rebate. Wind Easements

North Dakota allows property owners to grant an easement that ensures adequate exposure of a wind energy system to wind. The easement runs with the land benefited and burdened, and terminates upon the conditions stated in the easement. Easements are presumed to be abandoned if construction or operation has not begun within 36 months. The statute includes a process and timeline for termination of the easement in this event.

South Dakota Solar and Wind Easement Law

Any South Dakota property owner may grant a solar* or wind easement with the same effect as a conveyance of an interest in real property. Income Tax Deduction for Solar-Powered Roof Vents or Fans

Indiana allows taxpayers to take a deduction on solar-powered roof fans (or vent, also sometimes called an attic fan) installed in a home that the taxpayer owns or leases. The deduction is for 50% of the cost of the materials and installation labor, up to $1,000. 

The taxpayer must provide proof of the taxpayer’s costs for installation of a solar powered roof vent or fan and a list of the persons or corporations that supplied labor or materials for the solar powered roof vent or fan.

Duke Energy Progress - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Progress Energy provides incentives for residential customers to increase home energy efficiency. To qualify, the equipment must meet the efficiency requirements outlined on the program web site and the home must be at least one year old. Early replacement rebates are offered for some equipment. Customers  must use a contractor approved by Progress Energy to participate in the program. Customers must submit an application form, including equipment cut sheets and original contractor invoice, within 90 days of completion of the work. Parke County REMC - Energy Efficient Equipment Rebate Program

Parke County REMC offers rebates to commercial and residential customers for purchasing and installing qualifying energy efficient water heaters, air-source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps and other equipment. Rebates will be paid in the form of an on-bill credit. Some rebates may be paid over the course of several on-bill credits. All efficiency and equipment requirements stated on the program web site must be met in order to be eligible. Provide all requested purchase information.
