Rebates

Valley Electric Association (VEA), a nonprofit member owned cooperative, developed the domestic solar water heating program to encourage energy efficiency at the request of the membership. VEA partnered with Great Basin College to train and certify installers, creating jobs in the community, and also with Rheem Manufacturing and a local licensed contractor to install the units. A site visit is performed to determine the best installation and system design for each member. Contact VEA for additional details. This program is currently only offered to those members in VEA’s service territory.

San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) offers a variety of rebates to customers for the purchase and installation of energy efficient equipment and appliances. Both residential and commercial customers are eligible to participate in this program. 

Only current San Miguel Power Association members qualify for rebates and rebates can take up to 90 days to be processed. Rebate applications must be submitted within 60 days of the purchase.

Focus on Energy offers in-home energy audits and cash incentives for installing select recommended efficiency measures. Energy consultants inspect home energy systems, help identify the most effective measures for increasing home efficiency, and assist participants in applying for incentives. The audit itself costs $200-$400, reduced to $50 for Tier 2-eligible customers. Incentives of up to $2,250 are available for insulation and sealing improvements.  To determine if you qualify for Tier 1 or 2 benefits, find your household size and household income in the State Median Income (SMI) chart on the program website. Consumers Energy residential gas customers are eligible to apply for a variety of rebates on energy efficient equipment. Furnaces, boilers, water heating units, insulation, windows, doors, energy audits and comprehensive improvements are eligible under this program. Customers must install equipment in the Consumers Energy service area and receive gas service from Consumers Energy for the appliance purchased. Consumers Energy may verify sales transactions and that installed energy-saving measures meet all applicable building codes, zoning laws, local, state, and federal requirements. Illinois law prohibits homeowners' associations, common interest community associations and condominium unit owners' associations from preventing homeowners from using or installing solar energy systems. These associations may not deny homeowners permission to install solar energy systems, but they may specify the location of the solar energy system, as long as such specifications do not "impair the effective operation" of the system. In July 2011, the legislature enacted a bill (Public Act 97-0105) which added a provision for wind energy. A homeowner's association or similar entity may restrict wind energy devices altogether.

The Solar Water Heater Rebate Program is offered to residential retail electric customers by the City of Ocala Utility Services. Interested customers must complete an application and receive approval from the Ocala Utility Services before installing equipment. The application can be found on the program website. The system must be installed by a licensed Florida contractor on the customer's premises, which must be located within the Utility service territory. United Power is providing rebates to their customers for the purchase of photovoltaic (PV), wind, and solar water heating systems. These incentives are separate from the rebates provided by the Colorado Governor's Energy Office and require separate applications. PV and wind systems must be grid-connected. Systems up to 25 kW in capacity may be installed, but United Power will only provide a rebate for the first 3 kW. Systems installed as part of new construction or residential development properties are not eligible for this program.

Note:  In 2010, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which has authority over mortgage underwriters Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, directed these enterprises against purchasing mortgages of homes with a PACE lien due to its senior status above a mortgage. Most residential PACE activity subsided following this directive; however, some residential PACE programs are now operating with loan loss reserve funds, appropriate disclosures, or other protections meant to address FHFA's concerns. Commercial PACE programs were not directly affected by FHFA’s actions, as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do not underwrite commercial mortgages. Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant (TMLP) offers a rebate of $1.50/Watt rebate on solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, up to a maximum rebate of $4,500. Additionally, customers can receive a $1.20/Watt rebate from the DOER, up to 50%. The system must be installed on a single-family dwelling residence and the customer must be the owner of the PV system and be current on his/her electric bill.
