City of Tucson - Solar Readiness and EV-Ready Sustainability Codes

Solar Readiness

Tucson adopted an ordinance in June 2008 that requires all new single-family homes and duplexes in Tucson to be "solar-ready." The ordinance requires all new homes either to have a photovoltaic (PV) and solar water heating system installed, or to have all the necessary hardware installed so that a system can easily be installed at a later date.

To comply with this requirement, new homes must either have a complete solar water heating system installed or comply with one of two solar stub-out options. Option One requires the installation of two insulated pipes and a suitably sized conduit

Valley Electric Association - Net Billing

The Board of Directors for Valley Electric Association (VEA) approved a revised net billing program, which took effect in August 30, 2024. 

For DG applications completed after August 30, 2024, any excess energy exported to the grid will generate an "Over-Generation Bill Credit," which is valued at the utility's avoided rate. The accumulated value of Over-Generation Bill Credits will be applied to the customer's bill at the end of the month. Alameda Municipal Power - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) offers a variety of rebates to its residential customers for energy efficiency measures. The following incentive program categories are offered:

  1.  AMP Marketplace
  2. Smart Thermostats
  3. Electric Panel Upgrade
  4. Electric Vehicle Charger
  5. Heat Pump Water Heater
  6. Used Electric Vehicle
  7. Electric Clothes Dryer
  8. LED Lighting

High Performance Building Incentives Program

In July 2008, Pennsylvania enacted a broad $650 million alternative energy bill designed to provide support for a variety of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. Included in this legislation was a provision authorizing the creation of a $25 million grant and loan program for high performance buildings. The program is jointly administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), under the direction of Commonwealth Finance Authority (CFA). South River EMC - Solar Water Heating Rebate Program

South River Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) is providing rebates to encourage their customers to install solar water heating systems. To be eligible for the rebate solar collectors must have OG-100 certification by the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation. (SRCC), and solar water heating systems must have SRCC OG-300 certification. Systems must also incorporate adequate freeze and over heat protection controls that do not require manual operations on the part of the residence occupant. System owners will have 90 days to apply for a rebate after their system has been installed. South River EMC will also inspect all systems before rewarding

Hutchinson Utilities Commission - Residential Energy Efficiency Program

Hutchinson Utilities Commission (HUC) offers a variety of rebates to residents of Hutchinson who perform energy conservation improvements to their home. Rebates are available for a variety of energy efficient equipment including furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, geothermal and air-source heat pumps, water heaters, clothes washers and dryers, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, and LED lighting. All equipment must meet certain energy efficiency standards listed on the program website. Rebates are also available for central air conditioner tune-ups. Entergy Texas - Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program

Entergy Texas offers incentives of up to $5,000 for energy efficiency home upgrades and installations.  The home must be within Entergy's service territory. After a home performance evaluation, a contractor will recommend a variety of energy efficiency improvements. Improvements include: Central Air Conditioner Replacement, Comprehensive Air Conditioner Tune Up, Air Source Heat Pump, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning duct sealing and/or replacement, High Efficiency Electric Water Heater, Water Heater Jackets, Attic, Wall, and Floor Insulation, Air Sealing, Solar Screens, Energy-Efficient Windows, Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs,  and Pool Pumps.

Cascade Natural Gas - Conservation Incentives for New and Existing Homes

Cascade Natural Gas offers a variety of incentives to residential customers including energy efficiency measures in new and existing homes in Washington and Oregon. Incentives listed here apply to Washington residential customers of Cascade Natural Gas. Fuel for the home’s primary heat source must be provided by Cascade Natural Gas for all heating incentives and the home’s water-heating fuel must be provided by Cascade Natural Gas for all water-heating incentives. For new homes, ENERGY STAR Whole Homes Incentives and Upgrades or stand-alone incentives are available.
