Portland General Electric’s Green Future Renewable Development Fund (RDF) is a competitive grant program, supported by voluntary contributions from Green Future participants, that offers financial backing for impactful, non-residential renewable energy projects. Some examples are solar, wind, small hydropower, energy storage, R&D, and educational efforts. With more than $20 million awarded since 1999 and 17.1 MW of clean energy created, RDF emphasizes local benefits by prioritizing projects hosted by nonprofits within PGE’s service area, especially those serving environmental justice communities and leveraging multiple funding streams. In 2025, up to $1.5 million is available in total, with projects needing to be power-producing within 18 months of approval and capable of delivering clear community value.
