Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC offers residential customers incentives for energy efficient heat pumps, water heaters, and air conditioners. The geothermal heat pump incentive is available for new construction and retrofits. In order to qualify, all incentive applications must be completed and signed by a contractor and member, be accompanied by AHRI certificate and a copy of the paid receipt, and be submitted within 30 days of unit installation. Interested customers should contact the utility for more information.

Southern Indiana Rural Electric Coop offers an incentive program for customers to help offset the cost of high efficiency heating and cooling equipment. Rebates are available for energy efficiency water heaters; air-source, dual fuel, and geothermal heat pumps. Equipment can be installed in new construction or an existing home or mobile home. Rebate amounts vary depending on equipment efficiency, installation location, and capacity. Interested customers should complete an application form and send it in with the original product receipt/invoice. Clark County REMC provides incentives for residential members to upgrade to more efficient household equipment. Electric equipment, HVAC equipment, and water heaters. All rebates appear as a credit on the customer's electric bill. Clark County REMC also provides cash incentives to businesses. RushShelby Energy provides customers with incentives to help offset the cost of installing energy efficient equipment in participating homes and facilities. Rebates are available for energy efficient cheat pumps, dual fuel heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps and water heaters. Rebates vary depending on the size and efficiency of the equipment and the type of system that it is replacing. Rebates are for permanent residences only, which are occupied year-round (12 months).

Bartholomew County Rural Electric Membership (BCREM) Cooperative provides its residential customers with rebates for geothermal and air source heat pumps, central air conditioners, and new high efficiency electric water heaters. Equipment must meet certain energy efficiency standards listed above and on the BCREM web site. Customers must show proof of sale, make, serial and model numbers, size of unit, and energy efficiency rating for the qualifying equipment installed. North Carolina's Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (CEPS), originally established as a Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS) by Senate Bill 3 in August 2007, requires all investor-owned utilities in the state to supply 12.5% of 2020 retail electricity sales (in North Carolina) from eligible energy resources by 2021. Municipal utilities and electric cooperatives must meet a target of 10% renewables by 2018 and are subject to slightly different rules. In February 2008, the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) issued an order adopting final rules to implement the CEPS.

Scottsdale’s Green Building Program, established in 1998, was the first such program in Arizona with an emphasis on residential home construction. It was developed to encourage environmentally responsible building in the Sonoran Desert region by incorporating healthy, resource- and energy-efficient materials and methods in the design and construction of homes. The program’s goals are to reduce the environmental impact of building; achieve both short and long-term savings of energy, water and other natural resources; and encourage a healthier indoor environment.

As of Dec. 6, 2022, the Scottsdale City Council has adopted the 2021 edition of the International Energy Construction Code (IECC) and the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) with amendments as mandatory codes. The effective date for the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) is Jan. 7, 2023.

In 2005, Scottsdale approved a green building policy for new city buildings and remodels. The resolution requires all new, occupied city buildings of any size to be designed, contracted and built to achieve certification by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program at the "Gold" certification level

The Hard to Reach and Residential Standard Offer Programs provides incentives for the retrofit or new construction installation of a wide range of energy efficiency measures. The program does not prescribe technologies or end uses, but provides a framework through which energy efficiency service providers can receive incentives to achieve cost-effective reduction in peak summer demand. If the customer uses the performance based calculations to determine an incentive, the implementation payment may be added to the kW saved payment. CenterPoint Energy's (CNP) Residential and Hard-to-Reach Standard Offer Program (RSOP & HTR) provides incentives to encourage contractors, service companies, community agencies and other organizations to install energy efficiency measures in homes and small businesses in CNP's designated service area. The HTR program specifically targets households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
