Focus on Energy, the efficiency program of Wisconsin's participating utilities, offers rebates for insulation and air sealing improvements in existing homes. Rebate amounts are tiered by household income: higher-income households (above 150% of Area Median Income), moderate-income households (between 80% and 150% AMI) and low-income households (below 80% AMI). For single-family homes of one to three units the rebates are:
Rebates for multifamily buildings of four or more units are calculated per square foot of area treated. A home energy assessment, which typically costs between $500 and $700, is optional for most measures but required for ENERGY STAR qualified air sealing. Rebates are capped at 100% of project costs,. Rebates apply to improvements made on or after January 1, 2026, and applications must be submitted within 60 days of completed installation and no later than January 31, 2027. Interested customers should confirm that their utility participates, check which income tier applies, and arrange the work through a Focus on Energy Trade Ally. Details are on the program web site.
