Burlington Electric Department - Commercial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Burlington Electric Department offers rebate incentives to its commercial customers in Burlington, Vermont. BED's residential rebates are covered separately.

The Commercial Energy Efficiency Program provides rebates for HVAC systems, system controls, lighting upgrades and refrigeration. Equipment must be purchased and installed within the program year to qualify. Instant rebates at the time of purchase are available for heat pump water heaters and high-performance circulator pumps.

Midstream rebates, taken at the point of sale, are available through participating contractors and distributors: high-performance circulator pumps up to $600 off, heat pump heating and cooling systems up to an additional $650 off, heat pump water heaters bought at an HVAC distributor up to $800 cash back, LEDs for indoor growing up to $100 per fixture, and pellet or wood stoves up to $400 off.

Pre-approval is required for rebates covering more than 100 pieces of equipment, buildings over 10,000 square feet, or rebate payments of $5,000 or more. Applications must state the date and place of purchase along with the size, type, make, model or part number and serial number of each item. Larger lighting projects are handled as custom commercial rebates through the BED Energy Services team.
