MidAmerican Energy does not currently offer residential energy efficiency rebates in South Dakota. It still serves the state — its 2025 filing with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission reports more than 114,000 natural gas customers across about 30 communities and 5,331 electric customers across about 6 — but the residential equipment rebate programmes are not running there.

MidAmerican suspended its 2018 South Dakota electric and natural gas residential equipment programmes when that year's funding was exhausted, and the programme page has returned a 404 since at least May 2019. MidAmerican's current qualifications and conditions hub lists qualifications for Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska only. Its appliance recycling rebate is likewise restricted to Iowa and Illinois electric customers.

Third-party incentive aggregators still list South Dakota equipment rebates for this utility, including a $50 appliance recycling rebate. Those listings are stale; MidAmerican's own pages are the authority and they do not offer them.

If you are a MidAmerican customer in Iowa, Illinois or Nebraska, see Home Discounts and Rebates for Iowa and Illinois or the Nebraska residential rebates page. South Dakota customers should contact MidAmerican directly to confirm whether anything has changed.

This is an energy efficiency programme record, not a solar incentive.

Verified against MidAmerican Energy's own program pages on 28 October 2026.

Historical programme description

MidAmerican Energy offers a variety of incentives for residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of homes. Eligible customers are eligible for rebates on furnaces, furnace fan motors, boilers, water heaters, air conditioners, air-source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps and insulation. Customers should see the equipment brochure for more rebate information and equipment requirements, or visit the web site below and choose their state under the Energy Efficiency tab.

Funding for the year 2018 is depleted and MidAmerican Energy has suspended the 2018 electric and natural gas residential equipment programs.
