Rebates

Corn Belt Power Cooperative is a generation and transmission electric cooperative that provides power to nine distribution rural electric cooperatives and one municipal electric cooperative. These utilities provide power to farms, rural residences, small towns and commercial/industrial customers in 41 northern Iowa counties.

The member cooperatives of Corn Belt Power Cooperative have established energy efficiency rebate programs to encourage greater efficiency in members' homes, farms, and businesses. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the website of their local electric utility to learn about the specific rebates available and program requirements.

The member cooperatives participating in the program are:

1. Iowa

The VirginiaSAVES Green Community Program provides low cost financing to private commercial and industrial, non-profits, and local governments to fund a wide range of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the State. The program works with third-party funding sources to provide financing for projects. The program is administered by CleanSource Capital, LLC under the guidance of Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME).

Interested applicants must submit a summary worksheet that describes the project, including measures being funded, vendors involved, and energy assessment. After meeting the eligibility requirements, the borrower can submit a formal application along with an application fee

National Grid offers 0% financing to its customers to install energy efficient heating equipment in Rhode Island homes. Only residential customers of National Grid (electric or gas) with 1-4 unit property are eligible for the program. Financing is not offered to tenants. 

Interested participants must first schedule for home energy audit through the EnergyWise Home Energy Assessment Program by calling 888-633-7947. The energy audit will provide a list of energy efficiency measures including other rebates offered by National Grid. Note:  In 2010, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which has authority over mortgage underwriters Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, directed these enterprises against purchasing mortgages of homes with a PACE lien due to its senior status above a mortgage. Most residential PACE activity subsided following this directive; however, some residential PACE programs are now operating with loan loss reserve funds, appropriate disclosures, or other protections meant to address FHFA's concerns. Commercial PACE programs were not directly affected by FHFA’s actions, as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do not underwrite commercial mortgages. Under Maryland law, an SREC represents the generation attributes of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generation (or equivalent) from a qualifying solar facility. Electricity suppliers must purchase and retire solar renewable energy credits (SRECs) in order to meet their compliance obligations under the law, or pay a Solar Alternative Compliance Payment (SACP) for any shortfalls in SREC purchases.  In January 2005, the District of Columbia (D.C.) Council enacted a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) with a solar carve-out that applies to all retail electricity sales in the District. In October 2008 the RPS was amended by the Clean and Affordable Energy Act (CAEA) of 2008. Significantly, this legislation increased the percentage and number of benchmarks that utilities must meet, included solar water heating as an eligible technology, increased the alternative compliance payment and amended reporting requirements. The City of Ashland Conservation Division offers incentives to residential customers for buying and installing energy efficient appliances, insulation and equipment. Customers can also choose to receive a zero-interest loan to purchase equipment in lieu of a rebate. Detailed rebate information is available on rebate applications or by contacting the Conservation Division. 

Note: The Republic of Palau is a United States associated state. 

The Palau Net Metering Act of 2009 established net metering on the Island of Palau. Net metering was implemented in order to:

1. Encourage investment in renewable energy sources. 

2. Stimulate economic growth.

3. Reduce demand for electricity when alternative energy is available.

4. Enhance the continued diversification of the energy resources used in Palau.

5. Reduce fossil fuel imports for electricity generation and increase energy independence. 

6. Reduce carbon emissions and benefit Palau's environment.

An eligible net metering customer-generator is a residential, commerical, government, or

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) through its PowerSaver loan program offers three financing options for homeowners to make energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades in their residences. For all three PowerSaver products, borrowers must select from a list of approved PowerSaver lenders. Please check the HUD website to find a list of participating FHA approved lender for the program. PowerSaver products are not currently offered in all states, so all potential applicants are encouraged to first check the program website to ensure product availability in their location.
