Unitil offers New Hampshire residential customers rebates and services to make homes more energy efficient, on both the electric and the natural gas side. Unitil's programs are delivered through NHSaves, the statewide energy efficiency initiative funded by electric and natural gas ratepayers and administered jointly by Unitil, Eversource, Liberty Utilities and New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. Current forms and amounts are published at nhsaves.com.
Product rebates. Rebates are offered on heating and cooling equipment, including central air conditioners, heat pumps, mini split systems and heat pump water heaters; on programmable and wireless-enabled thermostats; and on laundry appliances, refrigerators, room air conditioners, dehumidifiers, room air purifiers, advanced power strips, pool pumps and water heaters. Appliance and refrigerator recycling, and air conditioner and dehumidifier turn-in events, are also run.
Energy audits and weatherization. A whole-house assessment identifies where a home is losing energy and recommends improvements, such as attic and wall insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, heating and cooling upgrades, water heating upgrades, and renewable energy systems.
NHSaves does not publish a single cost-share percentage or cap for this track. Earlier records on this site quoted 50% of project cost up to $4,000, and that figure could not be confirmed against either NHSaves or Unitil in October 2026 — third-party guides give conflicting caps. Ask Unitil or NHSaves for the incentive currently in force before committing to work.
New home construction. Building to the EPA's ENERGY STAR certification can earn up to $4,000 in rebates. Enrollment runs annually; the 2026 incentives are valid through 31 December 2026.
Income-eligible households. NHSaves runs a separate energy assistance program for income-eligible homeowners and renters, at a higher cost share than the standard track.
