Xcel Energy - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs

Xcel Energy offers Minnesota residential customers rebates on energy efficient equipment and home improvements, covering both electric and natural gas measures. Electric rebates apply to HVAC systems, appliances and lighting; natural gas rebates apply to gas heating equipment, insulation and water heating. Amounts and eligible measures change by technology and program year, so consult the program web site for the rebate structure currently in force.

Customers may also qualify for the Home Performance Rebate, which pays incentives for comprehensive whole-home upgrades rather than single measures, and for a home energy audit.

Demand response. Xcel runs two Minnesota load management programs, both free to join. Saver's Switch pays a credit on the June through September electric bills each year in exchange for allowing the air conditioner to be cycled during periods of peak demand. AC Rewards is the equivalent for customers with a qualifying smart thermostat.

Some Xcel rebates are open only to Minnesota customers who take both electric and natural gas service from Xcel, with the amount depending on the measures chosen. Participating contractor lists, equipment requirements and application materials are published on the program web site.
