Affordable Home Electrification Program (AHEP)
This program operates with both local District and federal Department of Energy Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) funding.
The Affordable Home Electrification Program can help households switch from natural gas and electrify home heating, water heating, and cooking systems. Qualified households can upgrade gas or oil HVAC system to energy-efficient electric equipment at no cost to the tenant or homeowner.
Equipment includes:
- Programmable thermostats
- Heat pumps (ducted or ductless)
- Heat pump water heaters
- Electric induction stoves
- Heat pump clothes dryers
Eligible households are homeowners or tenants in the District that participate in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance
